Thrift oil on canvas
Hello and welcome to the first blog post at Sun Gallery. It's a glorious, sunny early autumn day in sunny Newburgh. Let's keep the summer going a little bit longer by enjoying our current solo exhibition featuring paintings by Rona Hyslop.
Fife born and bred, Rona studied at Edinburgh College of Art and has spent her career teaching and painting in Fife.
Rona’s love and connection to the coasts of Scotland, and in particular the islands is evident in her beautiful seascapes.
Many of the works we are currently exhibiting were destined for an exhibition in Tiree just before Covid hit us all. We were honoured and delighted to be able to offer Rona the opportunity to be the first artist to show her work in the newly refurbished Sun Gallery. The exhibition contains new works create during the lockdown including the haunting “Silver Lining” which has given us the title for the inaugural show.
We intend to keep Rona’s paintings on show til November, so please come along to appreciate the depth and detail of these stunning pieces.
